Sonja C. Darby is an associate at Pathman Lewis, LLP whose practice areas include commercial real estate and transactional law.
Mrs. Darby represents parties in the acquisition, sale, development, financing, and leasing of shopping centers, apartment buildings, single-family homes, office buildings, condominiums, cooperatives, and mixed-use buildings. She navigates complex title documents, financing agreements, and contracts to advise clients on the risks, liabilities, and legal consequences of the deal and facilitate closings. She also provides counsel in general corporate matters, including entity selection and operating agreements. In the past, she has represented community associations in matters of corporate governance and covenant enforcement, interpretation, amendment, and termination—experience which compliments her current practice.
Mrs. Darby received her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 2003, achieving Dean’s List honors, and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami in 2000. She is a member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association.
